The pictures in our collection are arranged in general categories. You can select pictures to look at from our archive by clicking on one of the picture categories which are listed below. When you have made your selection, click on the button below.

There are over 2000 photos in the collection. To stop excessive traffic, the number of photos shown is limited to 10 per page and the total number of pages to 20. If your selection shows 200 items selected, change your selection text or, if you have chosen a category, use the second or third selection box to limit your search.

Many of the pictures have information stored with them. You can type a word or phrase into the selection box below to find this information with the pictures to match. Typical words might be 'Holmwood' or 'Townhead Tollbar' or 'Matthew Knox'. This information can be combined with a category above. For example, selecting 'villages' in the categories and entering 'Canonbie' in the text will select only village pictures relating in some way to Canonbie.

Many of the pictures are dated. If you are looking for a picture from a particular year, please enter the year or part of a year (18 or 195 for instance will find any year in the 1800s or 1950s) in the box below.

Entering a year in the text search box above rather than the box below will find that year if it is contained in the information regarding the subjects of the photograph (for instance the date of birth of a person or when a business was established). This box can be combined with either or both the other two. For example, selecting 'views', 'wauchope' and '18' would produce pictures of views containing reference to Wauchope (the river, the mill etc) and taken in the 1800s.
